Youth

Beginning November 18, 2021 a trial program will start in Quesnel for LGBTQ+ youth.

Counselling services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Counselling spaces are limited.  And depending on the number of youth who apply, there may be a wait list.

The goal of this trial program is two-fold:

  1. To ensure LGBTQ+ youth have access to counselling in our community.

  2. If successful, the Quesnel Pride Society will apply for a larger grant in November 2022 through BC Community Gaming Grants so that more youths can be reached.

Success will be measured by the number of youths wanting to access the service.

HOW TO APPLY:

  1.  Contact JC Herrett Consulting directly (778-638-0525, or contact@jcherrettconsulting.com) and ask to participate in the LGBTQ+ Counselling Program.

  2. The Office Manager will go through a short list of questions (all confidential - the Pride Society has NO access to WHO participates, or WHAT is said)

  3. Space permitting, you will be booked with a counsellor.

Ideally, each youth wishing to access services will have at least one session every other week while funding lasts.  Initially, more sessions may be permitted at the discretion of the counsellor.

If there is a wait list, sessions may be limited to a total of six so that other youths have access too. At the end of your sessions, you can call again to be added to the wait list.
